The California Committee South is a dedicated group of volunteers who support Human Rights Watch in Southern California through outreach, advocacy and fundraising. Founded more than a decade ago by Jane Olson and Stanley Sheinbaum, the Committee includes more than 90 members in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Members make a financial commitment to Human Rights Watch and participate regularly in outreach events and advocacy campaigns.

The California Committee is also active in the San Francisco/Bay Area, with more than 40 members participating in the California Committee North.
